Supertubes accommodation offers the ultimate Jeffreys Bay experience—especially for surf-loving families and ocean enthusiasts. During the 2025 Billabong SA Longboard Championships, the Schermbrucker family experienced the very best of what this coastal gem has to offer. Both Emma and Ethan Schermbrucker took top honours in their divisions, and their week was made even more memorable by their stay at SALT, a boutique self-catering haven located right on Supertubes Beach.
From world-class waves to a warm, welcoming space to unwind, this was a week of surf, celebration, and seaside comfort.

Emma and Ethan Dominate at the SA Longboard Champs
Held from 6–11 May 2025 at Lower Point, the SA Longboard Championships brought together the country’s top longboard surfers for a week of thrilling competition. Emma Schermbrucker stole the show, landing a perfect 10-point ride and a combined heat total of 18.33 in the U14 Girls division, securing her title in spectacular fashion.
Her brother Ethan followed with a strong performance in the U14 Boys division, earning his place among the top finishers. Their combined success reflected the dedication and talent running deep in this passionate surf family.
Between heats, the family could unwind in the comfort of SALT, their supertubes accommodation just a short walk—or surf—away from the contest site.
Surf, Stay, Repeat: Why SALT Enhances the J-Bay Experience
Jeffreys Bay isn’t just a surf town—it’s a lifestyle. From early morning paddle-outs to evening beach walks, everything revolves around the ocean. That’s why supertubes accommodation like SALT makes such a difference: it puts you in rhythm with the waves.
During their stay, the Schermbruckers made the most of it. Despite the competition schedule, Kari even managed to fit in a Mother’s Day surf session at Point—
“A guilt-free 3-hour session,” she joked, made possible by an extra night’s stay at Salt.
Between surf sessions and prize-giving, the family also explored Jeffreys Bay’s relaxed coastal offerings, from local markets and artisanal cafés to sunset strolls and beachside braais—all easily accessible from their beachfront base.
The Schermbrucker family’s story is one of triumph, connection, and making the most of every moment—made even more special by their time at SALT. For anyone seeking supertubes accommodation that blends location, luxury, and warmth, SALT offers something truly special.
